All are welcome and it is not necessary to already know how to play chess. The social benefits of children playing chess are well documented. See ficheall.ie to learn more.
Chess Teams
This year we have two chess teams: The Junior Rooks (3rd and 4th classes) and the Senior Rooks (5th and 6thclasses).
Online Teams
Pupils can also join the school’s online teams on Lichess. 3rd and 4th Class pupils can join team “Chesster’s Besters” and 5th and 6th Class Pupils can join “St Francis No Pawn Intended.” Pupils can join via Lichess.
