Le linn Seachtain na Gaelige mar a tharlaíonn go bliantúil, ghlac páistí ó ranganna a h-aon, a trí agus a cúig páirt i ranganna rince Gaelach le Carmel Connolly agus le chó-múinteoir, Aaron Mathews.  D’fhoghlaim siad na bun-chéimeanna rince, chomh maith le Rince an Scuab, Rince Ciorclach, Droichead Átha Luain agus Bailí Luimní.  Dé Luain 14ú agus Dé Máirt 15ú bhí céilithe ar siúl inar ghlac idir naíonáin agus páistí sinsearacha páirt.

During Seachtain na Gaeilge, pupils from 1st, 3rd and 5th classes participated in our annual series of Irish Dancing lessons with Carmel Connolly and her teaching assistant, Aaron Mathews.  They learned the basic dancing steps as well as The Brush Dance, A Circle Dance, The Bridge of Athlone and The Walls of Limerick.  On Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th, pupils from Infants – 6th enjoyed Céilís.

I rith na seachtaine, bhain na páistí fíor-shult as Tráth na gCeist sa halla, seisiúin scéalaíochta spraíúla sa leabharlann le Bean Uí Laighléis do na mean-ranganna agus as cluichí Gaelacha.

Throughout the week, the pupils enjoyed an Irish Quiz in the school hall, story time with Mrs. Lawless and Gaelic Games.

Bhí Tionól Gaelach na bliana i halla na scoilear an Aoine, inar ghlac gach páiste ó Rang 2 – 6 páirt.  Rang 2 – An Cófra Donn – rap; Rang 3 – Beidh Aonach Amárach – amhmrán; Rang 4 – An maith leat Éadaí – dán; Rang 5 –Aireoidh tú uait mé gan mé ann – amhrán; Rang 6 – Cochaillín Dearg – dráma. 

The annual Tionól (whole school assembly) took place in the hall on Friday 11th.  All pupils from 2nd – 6th class took part.  2nd class – An Cófra Donn – rap; 3rd Class –Beidh Aonach Amárach (song); 4th Class – An Maith Leat Éadaí (Do you like clothes? – Poem); 5th Class – You’ll Miss me When I’m Gone – song; 6th Class – Drama – Cochaillín Dearg (Little Red Riding Hood).

Ghlac foirne peile na gcailíní agus na mbuachaillí  páirt i gcomórtas peile Cumann na mBunscol do scoileanna áitiúla i rith na seachtaine.  D’éirigh an-mhaith leo, leis na cailíní go h airithe. Bhuaigh siad dhá chluiche ‘go leith as trí chluiche!

Our Girls’ and Boys’ Gaelic football teams participated in the Cumann na mBunscoil competition against local schools. Congratulations to both teams, especially the girls who won two and a half matches out of three!
