The St. Francis NS debate team is a group of people partaking in a persuasive public speaking , competing against other schools among various topics. The St. Francis debate team is a very new club; only being made in 2025. Though so far, in the first tournament the school has competed in, the team won first place in Bay Estate bringing back a massive trophy now on display in St. Francis N.S.
Debate is a great activity to help with public speaking and can make anyone come out of their shell. We asked one of the debate winners, Jessica Cooney if debate helped her with public speaking, she quotes that “Debate got me to be more confident in speaking up and all together made me a braver person.” If you would like to enter a debate competition when one is available, just volunteer and you might possibly be selected as one of the members of our intelligent and brave team.
