Enrolment for Junior Infants 2023 is anticipated to open in October 2022.

For subsequent years it is anticipated to open in the October preceding the entry date (i.e. Applications in October 2022 for entry in August 2023, applications in October 2023 for entry in August 2024, etc.)

During the October enrolment period, parents may complete an online application for a place for their child in the Junior Infant class commencing the following year.

If you would like to be informed of when applications open for your child, please complete the Expression of Interest form and we will send an email to the address you give us when registration open for your chosen year.

Even if you have previously completed an application form (our old Admissions and Enrolment Policy allowed parents to complete the application form at any time) we advise you to still contact the school to check we have your application on file.

Places will be allocated in accordance with our Admissions & Enrolment Policy, with priority given to:

  • Siblings of children already attending St Francis and children of staff members.
  • Children who have reached their 4th birthday by 31st March of the year on entry.

Do I have to pay to send my child to school?

In Ireland all children are entitled to free primary and post-primary education.  Like most primary schools, St Francis NS is funded by the state.

It is the legal responsibility of the parents/guardians to pay for their child’s uniform, books, materials, trips etc.  To facilitate this, we have a book purchase/rental scheme.

If however you have difficulty meeting these costs you may be entitled to a back to school grant. The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance scheme is open from 1 June to 30 September. Click here for further information.  Application forms are available online (pdf). You can also get an application form in all social welfare offices and Intreo centres, via SMS (text “Form BTSCFA” followed by your name and address to 51909) or you may email the Department at BSCFA@welfare.ie.
