Application Procedure

Please click on the link to download the school Application Form.  Please return the completed form (by post, email or in person) to the school with copies of Birth and Baptismal Certificates, if applicable.  (Please note that unlike many schools, there is no charge for putting your child’s name down for a school place.)

Filling out this form does not guarantee placement for your child/children. The Board of Management reviews all applications and allocates places in the Autumn term (October/November) of the year preceding the September start date and send out letters to prospective parents.

Priority is given to:

  1. Children with siblings already attending St Francis National School and children of staff members
  2. Children living in the parish of Haggardstown and Blackrock

For more information, please refer to our Admissions and Enrolment Policy.

Do I have to pay to send my child to school?

In Ireland all children are entitled to free primary and post-primary education.  Like most primary schools, St Francis NS is funded by the state.

It is the legal responsibility of the parents/guardians to pay for their child’s uniform, books, materials, trips etc.  To facilitate this, we have a book purchase/rental scheme.

If however you have difficulty meeting these costs you may be entitled to a back to school grant. The Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance scheme is open from 1 June to 30 September. Click here for further information.  Application forms are available online (pdf). You can also get an application form in all social welfare offices and Intreo centres, via SMS (text “Form BTSCFA” followed by your name and address to 51909) or you may email the Department at BSCFA@welfare.ie.
