Eco Tribes Project 2017

Pupils from Mrs Sweeney’s 5th class embarking on the Sally Gardeners Eco Tribes Project 2017

St Francis NS is delighted to once again be participating in the Louth Tidy Towns Eco Tribes Project.  The theme for 2017 is A Celtic Journey:  The Spirit of Nature which will focus on the development of a Celtic themed garden for your community.

Together with Blackrock Tidy Towns, our school will develop a garden featuring Irish flowers, herbs, and trees.  The selection and combination of plants will depend entirely on our garden design.

Pupil’s from Mrs Sweeney’s 5th class are participating in the project on behalf of our school and have called themselves “The Sally Gardeners – Na Garraíodóirí Sailí.”  They have set up a blog to chart their progress with the project.  You can read all about it at the following link here.

Also the Eco Tribes project has a blog, which is a great source of information and ideas for our team.  The first blog post is titled A Celtic Journey:  The Spirit of Nature and includes criteria for the Eco Tribes Challenge:  https://mutualgroundtraining.wordpress.com

This year’s theme is inspired by the book The Garden Awakening:  Designs to Nurture our Land and Ourselves by Irish garden designer and Chelsea gold medalist, Mary Reynolds.
