Communicating with Parents
The school contact details are:
Telephone: 042 93 66993
Emergency Mobile: 087 622 4773 (outside of school hours or for school trips and tours)
As a Green School, we are moving away from sending notes home and we are instead communicating with Parents digitally, via the school website and the Parents Facebook page.
Our primary method of communicating with all parents is via the Komeer App.
Komeer is a secure two-way messaging service that saves schools up to 85% on their communication costs, makes parents lives easier and provides a 24/7 Child Safety Alerts service.
Parents need to download the app from the App Store (iPhones) or Play Store (Android phones) and add themselves to St Francis National School group.
Komeer is FREE for Parents (the school pays an annual fee for the service) and we ask that ALL parents download the app to ensure they are kept up to date on school activities and events.
If you do not have the App installed, Komeer messages will be sent by default to you registered email address. Click video below for details:
We also have a very active Facebook Page. This is a closed group for school staff and for parents of pupils at St Francis NS, Blackrock to post photos, updates, school news and create events specifically for the school.
For legal/privacy reasons membership is limited to parents, staff and outside groups connected with the school.
Please note that staff are not permitted to respond to private messages sent to their personal telephone, email or Facebook regarding school related matters.
Please refer to our Communication Policy for more information.
WhatsApp Parent Groups
Our Parents Association has WhatsApp groups for parents – this is a forum by parents, for parents (and NOT for school staff !)
Each Class has a parent representative who passes on messages to parents from the PA. See the PA Page of our website for the contact details of your class rep.
The class WhatsApp group is great for posting homework queries relating to the class and serves as a support network for the parents of pupils in that particular class. It is also is a means of the PA committee communicating news and events to parents who are unable to attend PA meetings.
