Happy Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

The month of December has been a very busy month from making ginger bread men, Christmas art and  STEM activities. I would like to say a big Thank you to all the boy’s and girl’s for all the amazing work.

Here are some fabulous photos to show all the amazing activities 🙂

The boy’s and girl’s have been very busy in second class B. They made beautiful handprints inspired by Andy Warhol.  The class have also been learning about gems and bacteria. The class is currently observing a bread experiment and making predictions on what will happen to the bread. 🙂

Today the girl’s and boy’s had a STEM challenge to create a container to fit two bags of popcorn. The boy’s and girl’s worked really well in pairs and created amazing popcorn holders! 🙂

Today the boy’s and girl’s were very creative making their apple towers. They had to use their problem solving skills to work out how to get the apple tower to stand up. Perhaps we have a couple of budding architects in 2nd class B :

Here are some links to Youtube videos that will help!

Number jacks channel has lots of fun videos.

I will listen to your child read every second day. It is very important that you practice reading at home with your child.

Oxford reading tree is a fantastic resource and has lots of lovely books suitable for all age groups. You can also visit your local library for extra books.

This month we are learning about Mé Féin ( myself). Cula 4 is a fantastic website that has lots of useful resources to help with Gaeilge.

Today we had a great time experimenting with onions. We were exploring how onions affect our 5 senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell).  Here are some pictures 🙂

We have had a busy couple of days back at school 🙂 here are some pictures of activities we got up to!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Board of Management has agreed to stagger the start date of the new school term over the first 2 days. This will allow us to teach the new Covid procedures in a smaller group setting so that all pupils are aware of how to be as safe as possible at school.  However, since our 2nd classes are such small numbers ALL 2nd class pupils will return on Wednesday 26th August.

As outlined on the message sent yesterday, please ensure you adhere to the new dropping off and picking up protocols.

Please visit the school website at here for copies of all messages related to the re-opening of school.

We are all looking forward very much to welcoming back the pupils for the new school year.

Kind regards,

Aoife Stanley
