Geraldines GFC Coaching

Pupils in 1st and 2nd Classes have had Gaelic coaching every Friday for the last 3 weeks from the fantastic coaches from the Geraldines GFC. Today the pupils did a “Spooky session” in their Halloween costumes, but didn’t quite manage to scare the coaches away! Coaching continues on Friday mornings for 1st and 2nd classes after the mid term break. Many thanks to the coaches of The Geraldines for giving.

St Francis Day Assembly – 4th October 2019

This morning Fr Keenan conducted a short mass in school to pupils from 2nd-6th classes to celebrate St Francis Day. We then had a school assembly (one for 2nd-6th classes and a separate one for the Infant classes and First Class) to mark St Francis Day and to celebrate the achievements in September. School Place Applications

Please can parents ensure they have the names down for all younger siblings, even newborns!  Application forms can be downloaded here If in doubt, please check with the school office. We are currently reviewing our application files and we have a very large number of applications for the next few years, with limited places available and we would hate to disappoint parents of siblings already attending St Francis. Parent’s Association AGM

The AGM of our Parent’s Association will now take place on Monday 21st October at 8pm in the school hall. Guest Speaker is Denise Wogan on the subject of Healthy Lunchboxes. All welcome!

Geraldines GFC Mighty Marquee Weekend

St Francis NS is delighted to be supporting the Geraldines GFC Mighty Marquee Weekend on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September, which promises to be a fabulous weekend of entertainment for our community, with Geraldines does Strictly Come Dancing on the Friday night and Geraldines does the Oscars on Saturday night. This is the main annual fundraiser for the Geraldines GFC and much of the money raised will go towards.

Welcome to the New School Year

Tomorrow marks the first day of the new school year and we say a special welcome to the 54 new Junior Infant pupils, and to the ten other pupils starting their school life at St Francis NS this year. All new pupils are invited to enter via the main entrance.  Parents of new Junior Infants may escort their children to the classroom.  All other new pupils will be greeted by.

NEW! After School Care for Junior and Senior Infants

New for September 2019 we are introducing an After School Care Pogramme for pupils in Junior and Senior Infants, to cater for the one hour between Infants home time and the end of the school day for the pupils in 1st-6th classes at 2.40pm AFTER SCHOOL CARE For Junior and Senior Infant Pupils Notes for Parents Infant After School Care is open to all Junior and Senior Infant pupils of.

Prizegiving 2019

On Wednesday we had our Prizegiving End Of Year Assembly where we celebrated the many wonderful pupil achievements on 2018-2019 and said goodbye to our 6th Class. Unfortunately the many photos taken were accidentally deleted while transferring them so we only have a list of the winners below. First Holy Communion 2019

Photo: Paula Kavanagh Photography On Saturday 25th May, twenty seven pupils from St Francis NS made their First Holy Communion at St Oliver Plunkett Church, Blackrock. The pupils had been prepared for the sacrament in school throughout the year by their class teachers, Sarah Harlin and Annie Sweeney, with the support of parents and Fr Padraig Keenan. There followed a reception in the school hall, organised by the Parent’s Association.

GROW Awards 2019

Congratulations to our Green Schools Committee, led by Mrs Lawless and Miss McCann, on another successful year at the Louth County Council GROW Awards. GROW stands for (GREEN, RENEWABLE, ORGANIC, WASTE MINIMISATION) and these Environmental Awards recognise schools, staff and pupils who help foster a love of the environment and understanding and appreciation of nature.
