Tickets are now on sale for the Peace Proms in February at the following link http://peaceproms.com/buy-tickets/ Our school choir will be perform on SUNDAY 7TH FEBRUARY at 2PM at the RDS Dublin. Unlike previous years, we are not able to block purchase the tickets via the school office. Should you wish to attend the concert, we recommend you purchase tickets online as soon as possible. We will have a bus.
WOW! Congratulations to everyone who made a re-cycled Christmas tree decoration for our school tree. The entries were amazing with so much thought and work going in to every one of them. Mrs Lawless said it was the toughest decision to select the winners and had a panel of “experts” from the senior classes to help! We have signed up, as a school, for Super Troopers – a programme devised by Laya Healthcare to encourage daily physical activity. Each pupil has an activity journal and a family activity wallchart. Pupils are encouraged to spend 10-15 minutes doing each activity and parents are asked to sign off each activity at the end of the week, just as they would regular homework. There were lots of special mentions and awards in our Assembly on Friday. Firstly congratulations to Roísín and Aimee for their success in the Ulster Irish Dancing Championships 2015 in Letterkenny last month. The winners of the art competitions were congratulated: • Taste of Louth/Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland – Wendy from 1st Class • Blackrock & Haggardstown Christmas Art Competition – Irelin, Fallon and Kate (Age 4-6), Connor, Mia.
Congratulations to Emilia, Charlotte and Santina (all from Mrs Clinton’s 3rd Class) for coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Credit Union “Happiness” Art Competition. As part of the implementation of the Government’s Action Plan on Bullying, the Minister for Education and Skills, Jan O’Sullivan T.D., today launched the national anti-bullying website, available here. The tacklebullying.ie website, which was developed by the National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre (ABC) at Dublin City University, provides information, support and advice for students, teachers and parents on how to recognise and deal with bullying behaviour and allows teenagers.
Due to the Parent/Teacher meetings this Wednesday 25th November, please note that Wednesday’s after school choir practice has been moved to Thursday for this week only. Many thanks to all choir members (and their families!) who turned out last Sunday for Mass and for Carol singing at the Crowne Plaza craft fair.
Please note that the school will close at 12 midday this Wednesday for the parent/teacher meetings. Parents are asked to please collect their children promptly. There will be no after school Fitkids on Wednesday. Parents should by now have received their times for the meetings.
