On Wednesday the 11th February the two of St. Francis NS chess teams, Zane’s House and The Queen’s Gambit, went to a chess tournament in the Friary center.
There were 6 games and many different schools taking part including St Francis NS, St Oliver Plunkett NS,, St. Malachys Boys and St. Malachys Girls.
The 6 games spanned across the entire day with a short break after every two. There was tea and coffee for the teachers going around monitoring the games and keeping track of scores.
People on our chess teams say that some of the other schools were really good and one even made the best player on Zane’s House, (Zane), lose his perfect win streak! Which was really odd but Zane redeemed himself in the later games.
