Sixth Class Awaits New Basketballs
Basketball training has returned to St Francis NS in the last two years with the girls and boys teams winning the local basketball tournament that restarted last year. However, for the two years we’ve been training, the school has been receiving some poor quality basketballs.
The school ordered 20 balls last year and 10 more this year. A common problem that we noticed was that about 1 in 3 basketballs would go flat as soon as they were pumped up! As you can imagine, this was a big problem. When it happened again this year, Mr McShane said “this isn’t good enough”, and he decided to do something about it.
One reason this has annoyed him is that 5th class has just started their basketball training with Mr McShane and they need proper basketballs. So, Mr McShane took it upon himself to write an email to the company and address the flat basketballs.
Since the company was so sorry, they responded agreed to send us some free basketballs to make amends. The school orders a lot of stuff from this company so we usually do lots of good business with them. The best part is, they are not only replacing the flat ones with your average basketballs. They’re sending us newer and fancier ones! Brigitte suggested that Mr McShane keeps these ones separate for the basketball training and team.
Zach from 6th class says “It is very nice of them to send us basketballs”.
Sophie says “I think it’s good that they’re sending us these basketballs because it is giving an opportunity for all classes to play basketball”.
Rose expresses her thoughts by saying “I like the way they’re giving us refunds because these basketballs are really bad.”
Mr McShane said “Initially I was frustrated because so many basketballs were not fit to pump up, but this year I decided to finally send a complaint along with photos of the flattened basketballs and they decided to give us a full refund and we used the money to buy good and proper basketballs.”
The new basketballs have officially been ordered and hopefully they’ll arrive soon.
John says “I’m very happy we’re getting these basketballs but why did this problem occur in the first place?” It sounds like they’re all going to appreciate these very much. No matter the opinion it’s a good thing we’re getting basketballs and hopefully they’ll arrive soon.
