On Wednesday we held the finals of the St Francis NS Public Speaking Competition.

Pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th Classes had held heats in their classes and the winning 12 entrants performed in the semi finals last week in front  of all the senior classes, judged by Oreena and Brigitte.

The top 6 performers then participated in the final on Wednesday, judged by our former Speech & Drama Teacher, Patricia Reynolds.

The finalists were Cara Loughran (4th Class), Rachel Pritchard (6th Class) and Obi Enyoazu (6th Class)

In third place was Sophia Murphy (4th Class)

In Second place was John O’Rourke (5th Class)

In first place, winning the coveted Patricia Reynolds Public Speaking Trophy was Mero Ahmadi (6th Class)

Speaking at the adjudication, Patricia Reynolds said that the experience of participating in the Public Competition is hugely beneficial to building confidence and ambition, and she was particularly looking at the structure of every presentation, as well as the delivery and the engagement with the audience.

Cushla from 4th Class presented Patricia with a token of our appreciation for coming to judge the finals.
