March 30th, 2023.

6th Class A and B received a visit from Garda Damien yesterday.  It was about fingerprints, how to identify them and how the Gardaí use them as clues.

We really enjoyed it, especially when we got to take our own fingerprints using ink and a small pane of glass.  The instruments used for lifting fingerprints at a crime scene were passed around our classroom, which gave us the opportunity to see what Garda work is like.

There was a grey powder, 2 very soft brushes that are used for dusting off excess powder, a lifting tape, and a very interesting sheet that would be used for manual fingerprints.

Thanks to Garda Damien for coming in and answering all of our questions!
