Internet Safety – Thursday 22nd March
Next Thursday in school we have a speaker coming in to talk to all pupils from 1st to 6th classes about Internet Safety. Pupils will be split up in to age appropriate groups for the talks, which promise to be fun, interactive and designed in such a way that having engaged the children they will learn of the importance of their Digital Footprint and their Personal Information. The presentations will include Online Games, Social Media, Friends lists and the concept of Online Stranger Danger, Cyberbullying, Inappropriate content and more.
In the evening, at 7pm, there will be a 90 minute presentation in the School Library to parents and staff. It promises to be a very eye opening talk covering our own safety on line, as well as the many areas which children face online on a daily basis. Specific examples from will be given of actual information shared by the pupils during the daytime sessions
We did a lot or research and fact finding before selecting Children of The Digital Age (http://childrenofthedigitalage.com) to facilitate the training and we believe they will provide the best educational, current and informative talks.
St Francis NS is very grateful to our Parents Association for funding this project and we urge ALL parents to attend.
