Daffodil Day @ St Francis
Friday March 11th marked National Daffodil Day in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
We had an extra special reason this year to hold an event as one of our 2nd Class pupils has just returned to school following treatment for Cancer.
Every child in the school was invited to wear something yellow and they all got to bed-down a daffodil bulb ready for planting in the Autumn.
There was also a Coffee Morning and a raffle, held in the school by the St Francis Parents Association, which was open to family, friends and the wider community. There was a great sense of community spirit while also raising funds for a great cause which is close to many of our hearts.
The school would like to thank Woodies for donating the daffodil bulbs, Elaine Cosgrove (Village Garden Florist), Louise Coburn (Neal’s Yard Remedies) and Brenda McGee for donating raffle prizes, Food Solutions, the parents who baked and helped out on the day and finally all who supported the event.
