Calling all Young Musicians!

Do you play a musical instrument???? Exciting news for you!!

St Francis N.S. is hoping to start a school music group this year.  Our aim is to develop the children’s interest and enjoyment in playing an instrument in a group. The children will be given opportunities throughout the year to perform for school celebrations.

Benefits of music:
• Develops the imagination
• Boosts brain power
• Improves memory
• Builds confidence
• Teaches patience
Miss Gray and Miss Burns will be undertaking this musical project called “Music on Mondays”. We would ask any children who can already play an instrument or attending lessons externally to come and register your interest in joining a school music group with Miss Gray/Miss Burns on Monday 18th of September at 12:30 in room 5.
“Music on Mondays” will commence on the 2nd October. We plan on meeting with our groups during lunch break on Mondays, where we will learn new tunes and how to play as part of a group. This in school group is available free of charge during school hours.
Don’t already play a musical instrument?
Children in 1st class – 6th classes who don’t have any musical experience but are interested in learning a new instrument will have an opportunity to avail of extra-curricular music lessons for beginners at a small cost TBA. We will run small group lessons or one to one upon request. The instruments we can cater lessons for are tin whistle, flute, fiddle and possibly guitar. We would recommend that complete beginners would start with the tin whistle progressing onto other instruments.  If you would be interested in music lessons please download and complete  this form After School Music (copies also available from the office) and return by Friday 29th September.
